- Apple has launched the HomePod mini 2 in Malaysia at RM649, alongside its new HomeView smart display, an upgraded Apple TV 4K and the Apple Home Collection.

Pre-orders open at 9:00am on 15 October MYT through the Apple Store online and the Apple Store app. The speaker goes on sale on 30 October. It comes in five colours: pink, green, blue, white and midnight.
The price is RM120 higher than the original HomePod mini, which was sold locally at RM529. That model launched globally in 2020 and only reached Malaysia officially in 2024.
The new speaker keeps the same spherical fabric design but replaces the original S5 chip with Apple’s S10, the silicon used in the Apple Watch Series 10. The chip enables the speaker’s headline feature, Siri AI, the upgraded assistant Apple introduced with iOS 27.
Siri AI carries two caveats for Malaysian buyers. It will not be available at launch, arriving instead through a future free software update, and the fullest version requires pairing the speaker with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad nearby.
Apple has listed the initial Siri AI markets as the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa, in English only. Malaysia is not on that list at this stage, and Apple has not said when the feature will reach additional countries.
Once the update arrives, Siri AI will recognise up to six users in a household by voice and give personalised responses. It supports multi-turn conversation and draws on personal context for tasks such as scheduling.
The speaker adds a Sound Glow feature, which turns the touch surface on top into a light display that pulses with the music, using colours drawn from the current album art. Users can also trigger ambient animations such as rain or ocean scenes.
Up to four HomePod mini 2 units can be paired with the new Apple TV 4K for a four-speaker surround setup, with the TV box detecting each speaker’s position in the room and calibrating audio timing and levels automatically. The speaker can also serve as the default audio output for compatible Mac computers, solo or as a stereo pair.
Buyers building that surround setup will need patience on the second half of the equation. The new Apple TV 4K also opens for pre-order in Malaysia at 9:00am on 15 October MYT, priced at RM1,349, but it only reaches shelves on 13 November, two weeks after the HomePod mini 2. The HomeView smart display and the Apple Home Collection accessories are not part of the Malaysian launch. Apple opened HomeView pre-orders at US$299 in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, India and New Zealand, with availability from 13 November.
The HomePod mini 2 continues to work as a home hub for controlling smart home devices through the Home app and Siri, and can listen for sounds such as a smoke alarm and send notifications to the owner’s phone.
