- Apple has launched the fourth generation of Apple TV 4K in Malaysia at RM1,349, its first update to the streaming box in four years. Pre-orders open on 15 October at 9:00am MYT through apple.com/my/store and the Apple Store app, with in-store availability from 13 November.

The price marks a RM200 increase over the outgoing model’s nearest configuration. The previous generation sold in Malaysia at RM949 for the 64GB Wi-Fi version and RM1,149 for the 128GB version with Ethernet. Apple now offers a single 128GB configuration with both Wi-Fi and Ethernet, dropping the entry-level option. The move mirrors pricing elsewhere, with the device selling for US$299 in the United States.
The new box runs on the A19 chip, which Apple says delivers up to 50 per cent faster CPU performance and twice the GPU performance of the 2022 model. A dedicated AV1 decoder improves streaming quality while using less bandwidth. Reports from the announcement confirm Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, up from Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.
Three built-in far-field microphones enable hands-free Siri AI, so users can speak to the device without touching the remote or a HomePod. Siri AI is not currently supported on the device in Malaysia. Apple has confirmed the assistant arrives in English in a beta as part of tvOS 27.2 in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Existing owners of the second and third generation Apple TV 4K will also receive Siri AI through the same software update, without needing the new hardware. The feature requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad for questions involving personal context.
“The new Apple TV 4K is our most immersive home theatre experience yet,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “Pair it with HomePod for the best surround sound setup we’ve ever offered, and it makes managing your Apple Home accessories easier than ever.”
The device supports a four-speaker surround sound setup for the first time, using matching front and rear pairs of HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation) speakers. The system recognises each speaker’s position in the room and calibrates audio timing and levels automatically. The HomePod mini 2, launched alongside the Apple TV, sells at RM649. A full four-speaker setup costs RM1,349 for the box plus RM2,596 for four mini speakers.
The Siri Remote keeps its existing design but adds Find My support with Precision Finding and a built-in speaker that plays a sound to help locate it. Precision Finding works with the Siri Remote paired to iPhone Duo, iPhone Air or iPhone 17 or later, excluding the iPhone 17e. The remote works with Apple TV HD and earlier Apple TV 4K models and is sold separately.
As a home hub, Apple TV 4K shows doorbell notifications on screen, letting users see visitors, speak to them and unlock the door without pausing playback. The box supports Thread, automations, guest mode and locally processed HomeKit Secure Video. Microphone data is handled in Secure Exclaves within the A19 chip, which Apple says cannot be accessed by tvOS, apps, users or Apple itself. The device uses recycled gold, tin and aluminium in its components and fully fibre-based packaging.
