  • Samsung Galaxy A57 phones are failing to start after installing the new One UI 9.0 update, with European users reporting boot failures within hours of the rollout beginning on 12 October 2026.

The stable One UI 9.0 package, based on Android 17, reached Galaxy A57 owners outside South Korea on 12 October. Users on Reddit and Samsung’s community forums said their devices would not boot after applying the firmware version A576BXXU6BZIE, a 2.3GB over-the-air update.

The error appears linked to an XML file failure that halts the startup sequence. Samsung has not confirmed the fault publicly or given a timeline for a permanent patch.

Affected users report a workaround exists. Rebooting the phone into Safe Mode clears the XML error. To enter Safe Mode, press and hold the power and volume down buttons, then tap and hold the power off option until the Safe Mode button appears. Select Safe Mode, wait for the phone to restart, then reboot once more normally to exit Safe Mode. Users indicate this procedure only needs completion once before normal operation resumes.

Galaxy A57 owners who have not yet installed the update may want to delay installation pending Samsung confirmation that the issue has been resolved. Updates roll out in batches, so postponement carries minimal risk for most users.

The rollout reached South Korea first on 6 October, where the device is sold as the Galaxy Quantum 7 on firmware build A576SKSU2BZIE. European countries received the international variant on 12 October, with Southeast Asian markets expected to follow within days according to Samsung’s typical release pattern.

One UI 9.0 brings a redesigned quick panel with deeper customisation options, improved Samsung DeX support, updates to Samsung Notes, expanded accessibility tools, a faster security lock toggle and a clearer indicator showing when apps access location data. The Galaxy A57 is the first A-series device to receive the stable One UI 9 release.

Samsung has committed to six generations of operating system upgrades for the Galaxy A57, with early testing for One UI 9.5 already underway on internal servers just one day after the One UI 9 launch in Korea.

Owners can check for updates through Settings, then Software update. Malaysian users should expect the international firmware to arrive via Samsung’s staged rollout, though exact dates remain unconfirmed by the company.
