  • Meta has released software update version 129 for Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, adding audio accessibility settings for people with uneven hearing. Wearers can now set both speakers to mono playback or shift sound towards one ear through the Meta AI app.

Mono Audio combines the left and right audio channels so the same sound plays on both sides. Meta says this means nothing is missed on the side a wearer cannot hear. Audio Balance moves sound towards the left or right ear in single steps until it suits the listener. Both options sit under Device settings, Audio and Accessibility. They apply to sounds made by the glasses, such as Meta AI responses and notifications. The rollout is gradual, so not every owner will see the settings immediately.

The changes arrive shortly after update version 128 became broadly available. That update first appeared in September and brought several larger additions, including turn-by-turn walking navigation. Wearers can say “Hey Meta, navigate to Times Square” and receive spoken directions through the glasses, with the location taken from the connected phone. For destinations too far to walk, Meta sends driving directions to the phone instead.

Users can also send a destination from a phone’s mapping app to the glasses. They open the mapping app, find a place to walk to, tap Share and select Meta AI from the list of applications. Navigation then starts on the connected glasses.

Pedestrian navigation remains in beta. According to Meta’s support pages, it covers all 50 US states and Puerto Rico, all Canadian provinces and territories, and selected cities elsewhere, including London and Manchester in the UK, Paris, Hamburg, and Rome, Milan and Naples in Italy. No Malaysian city is on the list.

Version 128 also added an optional Spatial Audio toggle, which uses AI to give stereo playback a more three-dimensional feel across music, podcasts and navigation prompts. The update strengthens anti-tampering protection further, stopping the camera from working if the privacy LED has been tampered with.

The update lands ahead of an official Malaysia debut. Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta went on sale in Singapore in April 2026, the first Southeast Asian market to stock them. At Meta Connect on 24 September 2026, EssilorLuxottica said the glasses will reach Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines in the coming months. Until then, the glasses remain unofficial in Malaysia, though some local sellers offer imported units online. Owners of imported sets can still install the updates through the Meta AI app, but navigation availability depends on supported locations.
