  • Samsung is adding Bahasa Melayu to Galaxy AI, allowing users in Malaysia to use the company’s translation, transcription and summarisation tools in the national language.

The update covers Call Assist, Note Assist, Interpreter and Transcript Assist. With the addition of Malay and Hungarian, Live Translate now supports 24 languages. The feature translates phone calls in real time, including conversations between Malay and English speakers.

The full list includes Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, English, Filipino, French, German, Gujarati, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese.

Malay speakers were previously left out. Samsung Malaysia’s own support documentation listed Bahasa Indonesia among supported languages for Live Translate, but not Bahasa Melayu. The new update closes that gap.

The Now Nudge feature also gains Malay support, along with Dutch, Filipino, Gujarati, Hungarian, Romanian, Swedish and Turkish, bringing its total to 24 languages. Now Nudge suggests a relevant next step based on what appears on screen. It was introduced with the Galaxy S26 series and requires the Samsung Keyboard.

Note Assist summarises and formats notes. Interpreter translates conversations on a split screen for face-to-face dialogue. Transcript Assist converts recorded speech into text.

Bixby, Samsung’s device agent, is separately adding Polish, Thai and Vietnamese to reach 12 supported languages. Malay is not on the list. Samsung said Bixby requires a Samsung Account login and a data connection, and that available functions vary by country, region and language.

The new Bixby languages began rolling out on 14 October. The new Galaxy AI languages will follow in the coming weeks, with availability varying by device, country and region.

The language expansion follows the rollout of One UI 9, which Samsung started in September beginning with the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra. Galaxy AI features introduced this year were later extended to older devices including the Galaxy S24 and S25 series.
