- Xiaomi has opened HyperOS 4 to Apple’s ecosystem, letting its phones share photos, files, contacts and web pages with an iPhone. The company confirmed the change on October 7 through its official HyperOS account on Weibo.

The integration works in both directions. Users can view cloud photo albums held on Xiaomi Cloud or iCloud from either phone. Notifications also sync both ways, so a message that lands on a Xiaomi phone can be read and answered from an iPhone without picking up the other device.
The reach goes beyond the phone. On a Mac or iPad, owners can view and control their Xiaomi handset from the larger screen through Xiaomi’s connectivity app. This requires the app from the App Store, the same Xiaomi account signed in on both devices, and a shared network or hotspot with Bluetooth switched on.
There are limits for now. The AirDrop-style direct transfer is working only on the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, and Xiaomi has not said which other devices will receive the Apple-facing features. Reports indicate touch to share needs an iPhone 12 or newer running iOS 17 or later.
The Apple support sits inside HyperOS 4, which is based on Android 17. The software shipped out of the box with the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, both released in China on September 23. A stable rollout to more devices begins in China on October 15, with the first wave covering the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, 17 Pro Max, 17 Pro and 17, several REDMI K series phones, and the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro. Later waves run through January 2027 and extend to tablets, televisions, monitors and wearables.
Malaysian users will have to wait. The published schedule covers China only. Global beta recruitment began on September 10, and test builds for markets including Europe, India and Indonesia have appeared on Xiaomi’s servers, but Xiaomi has not announced a date for Malaysia. Based on past cycles, global releases usually follow the China rollout by several weeks. Lei Jun has said the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will reach international markets before the end of 2026.
The move builds on earlier work. HyperOS 3 already synced WeChat, QQ, text and call notifications with iPhones and let users unlock a Xiaomi phone with Touch ID, Face ID or a passcode on an Apple device. In September, Xiaomi also brought its interconnectivity app to the Apple Watch App Store for notification forwarding, health data sync and finding a misplaced device.
Other Android makers have moved the same way. Samsung, Google, OPPO and vivo flagships already support direct file transfers with iPhones, and the Xiaomi 17T Pro gained that function in June.
