- Apple has announced the Apple Home Collection, a new range of smart home accessories co-developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The lineup includes cameras, a video doorbell, a smart deadbolt lock, thermostats and temperature sensors. None of these products will be available in Malaysia at launch, with sales restricted to the United States, United Kingdom and Canada starting December 2026.

The announcement marks Apple’s most significant push into smart home hardware since the original HomePod launched in 2018. Until now, Apple relied entirely on third-party manufacturers to populate its Home app catalogue with Works with Apple Home and Matter-certified devices. The Home Collection represents Apple’s first branded accessory range, though individual products carry LG or Schneider branding rather than Apple’s name.
Every accessory in the collection sets up with a single tap on an iPhone and is managed through the Apple Home app without requiring separate apps or accounts. Apple emphasises that all data is encrypted end to end, meaning LG Electronics, Schneider Electric and Apple cannot access camera footage or smart home information.
“Apple Home Collection makes it easy to choose smart home accessories with confidence,” said Matthew Costello, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering. “Working closely with industry leaders LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, we designed every accessory to work seamlessly with Apple Home, so managing your home is simple, reliable, and private.”
LG produces four cameras with up to 2.5K video resolution. The Video Doorbell Wired costs US$249.95 and features two cameras—one facing forward for visitors and one pointing downward for package delivery. The Floodlight Cam retails at US$399.95, the Outdoor Cam at US$299.95 and the Indoor Cam at US$199.95. All four models recognise people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages.
Video history stores through iCloud+ with no separate camera subscription required. Users receive 10 days of event footage, with the 50GB plan supporting one camera, the 200GB plan supporting five cameras, and the 2TB plan supporting unlimited cameras. On eligible iCloud+ plans, Apple Intelligence generates automatic video descriptions and enables natural language searching of recorded footage.
The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock costs US$349.95, approximately RM1,580 at current exchange rates. It uses Ultra Wideband technology to unlock automatically as an iPhone or Apple Watch with a home key approaches. The lock also includes a PIN keypad and hidden backup key slot. It supports Matter for smart home integration and Aliro for digital access credentials, with core functions continuing to work offline.
Two Smart Thermostats are available—one from LG and one from Schneider Electric—each priced at US$199.95. Temperature sensors from both companies cost US$39.95 each. Using on-device intelligence from iPhone, the Home app automatically adjusts heating and cooling based on occupancy without manual scheduling.
The smart lock and thermostats are only available in the United States and Canada. Cameras, the video doorbell and sensors launch additionally in the United Kingdom. No Asian markets including Singapore, Malaysia or India appear on Apple’s availability list for the Home Collection.
For comparison, the LG Indoor Cam at US$199.95 converts to roughly RM895, while the Smart Deadbolt Lock at US$349.95 equals approximately RM1,580. These prices exclude Malaysia import duties, GST and distributor margins that typically apply to imported electronics.
Malaysians seeking similar HomeKit functionality must rely on third-party Matter-certified products already available locally. Brands like Meross, Tapo and Aqara offer HomeKit-compatible smart plugs, bulbs and locks through authorised distributors. The existing HomePod mini at RM599 and newly launched HomePod mini 2 at RM649 can serve as home hubs for compatible accessories.
The Apple TV 4K, newly released in Malaysia at RM1,349, also functions as a Home hub with Thread support and local HomeKit Secure Video processing. While it lacks the HomeView smart display’s camera interface, it manages smart home automations and security camera footage through the Home app.
Importing Home Collection accessories from overseas presents significant limitations. Products require an iPhone running the latest software for NFC pairing and a compatible home hub for advanced features. Camera descriptions and natural language search need Apple Intelligence-enabled devices and eligible iCloud+ subscriptions. Professional installation through ADT is only offered in the United States at Apple Retail locations.
Apple has not disclosed plans to expand the Home Collection beyond initial launch markets. Industry analysts suggest regional rollouts depend on Matter certification approvals, local partner agreements and regulatory requirements for wireless connectivity standards.
Malaysian Apple users should monitor the Apple Store Malaysia website for updates. Given HomeView’s exclusion from Malaysia despite launch in neighbouring Singapore, the Home Collection’s arrival in Southeast Asia remains uncertain. Apple’s previous smart home products—HomePod, Apple TV and HomeKit accessories—have historically reached Malaysia within 12 to 24 months of initial releases in US and European markets.
