  • Hey gang, i need help on a topic my family and i are facing. We just moved into a new house a few days ago and we're having issues getting our internet up.

So the rundown of what happened is the Building Management is refusing to let TM Technicians come in and pull up the telco line into our unit from the main box downstairs. What i dont understand is the the unit already has an existing TIME Fibre line in use by previous tenants. So why is it that i cant just do the same with UNIFI as their the main port provider anyways.

Now. This may seem petty but i already have an existing contract with UNIFI hence why i dont want to switch(cancellation fees etc. Im not rich)

So as a final question what i can do as a resident to fix this. Since my freedom of choice is literraly being taken away from me.

Any suggestions would be useful im really frustrated atp and have no clue what to do going forward

Time is fully independent and doesn’t rely on TM fibre or ports.

Maybe you can confirm with other tenants if anyone else has TM installed?

TIME is not using TM’s backbone.

Btw, AFAIK, you can cancel your Unifi without any cancellation fee since your new place does not have Unifi.

You can if you pay for the whole wiring work from UNIFI station into your unit.

Does TM/Unifi have a distribution point in the building, and do other units subscribe to Unifi?

If yes, don’t see why there’s a problem. If no, then JMB may be concerned with TM having to pull that last mile infrastructure from outside the apartment complex.

As others have pointed out, TM and Time do not share infrastructure, so it’s likely there’s no Unifi distribution point within your building.

Sometimes ISPs have exclusivity agreements with building management (not unusual for new buildings), but they do expire after a year or two.

Freedom of choice literally taken away lol what a drama queen.

Go talk to Unifi and ask for a waiver. It’s not your fault that Unifi isn’t in your building.

TIME will not go in if the building not exclusive to them. A lot of infrastructure costs. Chances are ur condo is now under TIME that’s the reason jmb can’t allowed unifi to come in no more.

did you talk to management before installation? usually tenant will need to inform management and make a deposit for any renovation.

or perhaps these kind of installation involved common area and needed mutual agreement among the community (need meeting held and discuss with)
