  • Singapore-based eSIM provider RoaminRabbit has launched Jojo the Rabbit, an AI virtual assistant that recommends data plans, answers connectivity questions and flags promotions inside its app and website.

The assistant runs around the clock and is designed to handle questions before and during a trip, including in time zones where human support teams are offline.

    What Jojo the Rabbit does

Travellers ask Jojo questions in plain language. The assistant compares data allowances, validity periods, destinations and prices, then suggests plans that match the trip. It also walks users through activation steps and offers guidance on common connection faults.

Promotional information sits inside the same conversation. RoaminRabbit says this removes the need to search several pages or support documents to find an answer.

    Why the company built it

RoaminRabbit argues that buying an eSIM has become easy while choosing one has not. Travellers still weigh up data volume, plan length, destination coverage and price, then deal with installation or network problems in an unfamiliar place.

The company describes itself as an AI-powered travel connectivity platform. It says it serves more than 100,000 travellers across 200 countries and destinations, covering leisure travellers, business professionals, digital nomads and families. Alongside its consumer app, it runs SimStack, a white-label eSIM platform sold to travel brands, airlines and enterprises.

“Staying connected is an essential part of travelling today, and finding the right eSIM plan or getting support should not add unnecessary complexity to the experience. With Jojo the Rabbit, we want to make it easier for travellers to explore connectivity options, ask questions, and get guidance whenever they need it,” said Glen Ramersan, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of RoaminRabbit.

AI is already common in eSIM support

RoaminRabbit is not the first eSIM provider to put AI in front of customers. Airalo and Holafly both run 24-hour support, and Airalo’s chat routes through an automated system before a human agent joins, according to reviews of both services. Some Airalo users report delays in reaching a person and occasional imprecise answers from the chatbot. Saily promotes direct access to human agents, while Holafly markets its multilingual human support as a selling point.

The difference with Jojo is placement. Most AI in this sector sits on the support desk and handles routine tickets. Jojo is pitched at plan discovery and purchase, where the assistant shapes what a traveller buys rather than only fixing what went wrong.

A market growing faster than support desks

Verified Market Research values the global travel eSIM market at about US$1.87 billion in 2025 and projects it to reach US$10.3 billion by 2033. Other research houses publish markedly different trajectories, so the figures should be read as a direction of travel rather than a settled number.

Adoption is climbing anyway. Airalo chief executive Bahadir Ozdemir told TechCrunch that roughly 15 per cent of travel connectivity is now powered by eSIMs. Truely chief executive Eric Dadoun said the steady rise of eSIM-only devices will push more consumers to learn how the technology works. RoaminRabbit sells plans from about US$1 per 1GB on a prepaid basis with no contract.

What it means for Malaysian travellers

Malaysia features among the destinations RoaminRabbit highlights for plan recommendations in its App Store listing, alongside Singapore, Thailand, Australia and the United States. Malaysian travellers heading overseas can install a plan before departure and keep their local number active for calls and banking codes.

Inbound visitors have a separate consideration. Malaysia requires prepaid SIM registration with a passport at the point of sale, which is one reason travel eSIMs have gained ground among tourists arriving at KLIA. Local operators CelcomDigi, Maxis and U Mobile also sell eSIM plans, so the market is crowded on both sides.

Jojo the Rabbit is live now in the RoaminRabbit iOS and Android apps and on the company’s website.
