- Proton has combined its privacy-focused services into a single product called Proton Workspace. The package includes email, calendar, drive, documents, sheets, password manager, AI tool, and encrypted video calls.
Proton Meet forms part of this bundle. It uses the open-source Messaging Layer Security protocol for end-to-end encryption by default. This differs from services such as Zoom or Google Meet. Users do not need to create an account or provide an email address to use Proton Meet. They can generate a link to host or join a call straight away.
Proton Workspace brings together Mail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Pass, Lumo AI, and Proton Meet under one subscription. It offers an alternative to Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 with standard end-to-end encryption.
Proton Meet supports up to 50 participants on free calls limited to one hour. The Meet Professional plan costs 7.99 US dollars per user per month. The full Workspace Standard suite costs 12.99 US dollars per month when billed annually.
The service is available on the web, iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux. Users can schedule meetings in Proton Calendar or in Google and Microsoft calendars.
