Nothing Reportedly Plans Exit From 12 Markets and Major Job Cuts

Nothing is reportedly preparing to leave at least 12 international markets while reducing its global workforce by about 40%. The affected markets are said to include Japan, the Middle East and parts of Europe. Its research and development teams may also face major cuts, including about half of the China-based workforce and between 30% and 40% of the London team. The reported changes follow weak sales outside India and higher memory costs. Around 20,000 Nothing Phone (4b) units have reportedly shipped globally, while combined Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro shipments are estimated at about 150,000 units. India remains a stronger market for Nothing. Counterpoint Research identified it as India’s fastest-growing smartphone brand in the second quarter of 2026, with shipments increasing by 105% compared with the previous year. CMF, which became a separate company in 2025, is not expected to release a new smartphone in 2026. Rising memory prices have reportedly made it difficult to produce a suitable successor at an affordable price. Nothing has not publicly confirmed all the reported market exits. However, co-founder Akis Evangelidis has acknowledged that the company is making difficult decisions during its transition.
