  • Sony has restored the PlayStation Network after a global outage on July 24 affected players using PS5, PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.

The outage disrupted account management, online multiplayer, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Video and PlayStation Direct. Players reported login failures, server errors and problems accessing digital content.

Some users were also unable to launch digitally purchased games because their consoles could not verify game licences while PlayStation Network services were offline. Games requiring an online licence check were affected most.

Sony confirmed the disruption through its PlayStation Network status page and later reported that all services were operating normally. The company has not explained the cause of the outage or confirmed whether affected users will receive compensation.

The outage happened while Amazon Web Services reported networking problems in its US-West-2 region, but Sony has not confirmed any connection between the incidents.
